Electrical Engineer – Robotics Systems

Responsibilities

Electrical Panel Design and Development

  • Evaluate and enhance existing electrical panel designs for better performance and scalability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with robotic systems.

  • Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).

  • Adhere to and document work according to relevant industry standards such as NFPA 79, UL508A, and ISO 13849.

Manufacturing Process Development

  • Prototype systems and refine manufacturing processes through iteration.

  • Establish and document internal manufacturing workflows for future outsourcing.

  • Train technical staff in proper electrical assembly and safety procedures.

Vendor and Outsourcing Management

  • Identify suitable external partners for electrical panel production.

  • Define and enforce quality standards for outsourced components.

  • Act as a technical point of contact between internal teams and external vendors.

Testing and Validation

  • Create and implement testing protocols for safety, reliability, and performance verification.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in prototypes and production systems.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration

  • Partner with mechanical, software, and systems teams to ensure system-wide functionality.

  • Provide technical support during field testing and customer deployments.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience in design, manufacturing, and testing of electrical panels.

  • Skilled with electrical CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).

  • Hands-on experience with wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with safety features of industrial robotic work cells.

  • Experience in robotics or automated industrial systems.

  • Proficiency in PCB design and manufacturing for control electronics.

  • Understanding of safety circuit design and performance calculations.

  • Experience managing outsourced manufacturing and vendors.

  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA best practices.

  • Project leadership and cross-functional team collaboration experience.

  • Ability to create and maintain functional safety documentation, including risk assessments and safety calculations (e.g., SISTEMA).
