Insight Into Sophie Palmer; from conquering the world to conquering the Digital market.
What is your role at Insight and how did you get here?
At Insight I am a Digital candidate consultant specialising in PO, BA and PMs. Prior to insight I was on a gap year in Australia, Asia, and USA. Before travelling, I worked as a Promotional Manager and trainer while studying Media at Plymouth University. I have always had the gift of the gab and been able to talk my way through anything, with that and a passion for people I was advised to start my career in recruitment. I’m only a few months in and I LOVE IT!
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, 50 Cent and Richard Branson. Those who have worked from nothing and built and maintained their empires. As Arnold once said, “you can’t climb the ladder of success if your hands are in your pockets, you must work your ass off.” My success is getting up each day and giving my best. I strongly believe great success comes with great failures and picking yourself back up is the most important factor on the road to success.
What are your top tips for success?
My top tip for success when looking for a role is to be persistent. Roles will come and go that you might think are perfect, but every failed interview is one step closer to the right role. Everything happens for a reason.
My top tips for success in life; Breakfast, Sleep and Beer.
What’s the best advice you have for anyone on the job hunt?
Apply for roles you can do and those you aspire to do, you never know what other people might see in you. Make sure your CV stands out and don’t just settle on the first offer that comes your way, you never know what is around the corner.
Tell us about yourself on a personal level – when you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I love to travel and see new places, the places I have been are all thousands of miles away, but recently I realised how little of the UK I have explored. My new years resolution was to explore the UK more; I want to see Scotland, the Lake District, Snowdon and many more. I am also a big festival bug; live music is the best! I plan to spend this summer in a crowd with a beer in hand.
