Insight into Ryan Lockett – quality recruiter on the quality market
What is your role at Insight and how did you get here?My role at insight is Recruitment Consultant, specialising in placing Quality Engineers/Managers in roles suitable for them. I have known Kyle and Leeming for a few years now and have wanted to get into Recruitment since. I first asked last year and after a conversation (Including plenty of nagging) with Kyle we decided it would be best for me to go and get some office experience, working on the phones with people daily to get used to the environment. Once I found out, after completing a Business Admin Apprenticeship, that there were roles available I jumped at the chance.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is being happy and being comfortable. Comfortable in your life and comfortable within yourself to know that when things go wrong, you’re in a position where you’re 100% sure that you can turn it all around again. This is done by being resilient and having the ‘Won’t back down’ attitude.
What are your top tips for success?
Be happy in what you’re doing. Be hungry and determined in the area you’re working in. Once those two things are combined, there’ll be no stopping you. You’ll put everything into it! Also, setting goals is vital. Having goals to work towards will keep you driven and focused ensuring you don’t become too stagnated.
What’s the best advice you have for anyone on the job hunt?
The best advice I could give would be to ask people about recruitment agencies. Once you find an agency that works for you, the possibilities are endless. Be in contact with them as often as you can so that you can build a relationship to the point where the Consultant will know exactly the kind of roles that are perfect for you.
What’s the best advice you have for anyone trying to make it in recruitment?
Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride. There will be plenty of ups and downs, however, have the mindset that the highs will outweigh the lows and everything will be worth it. Work with people who are willing to commit to you and be honest with people.

Anything Football or Courteeners and I’m your man!
I’m a keen footballer, playing around the country following the team I love (for whatever reason) Rochdale AFC. Usually manage about 10 games a season because my ankles seem to be made out of glass, which for a skinny lad in Men’s amateur football is no good.
I like going to gigs, slightly obsessed with Courteeners. Apart from that, I’m drinking in a pub somewhere or watching whatever is on the sports channels.
