Insight Into… Beth McGrath. Music Chaser and Front End Dev Placer!

What is your role at Insight and how did you get here?

Here at Insight I specialise in placing Front End Developers into roles primarily across the North West. I have a degree in Music Business and spent the past 5 and a half years after graduating working as an Office Manager for a life insurance broker. Looking for a bit more of a challenge a friend recommended recruitment. Knowing I wanted to specialise in IT as I have a personal interest in web development, I reached out to the MD Sean directly.

How do the company values of Insight match up with you personally?

I believe Insights core values of caring and honest match up perfectly with me. I think both are two of the most important things you need to be in life.

What does success mean to you?

Success to me means achieving my goals. I like to push myself to exceed expectations. I have a clear goal of what I want the next 5-10 years to look like and a thriving career in recruitment is one of them.

What are your top tips for success?

Work hard and organise your time well. Set yourself goals to achieve and don’t let failures knock you down. Everyone makes mistakes, just make sure you learn from them instead.

What’s the best advice you have for anyone on the job hunt?

Just be confident and prepared to answer personal questions about yourself that you wouldn’t think you’d be asked. Be resilient, you might not always get the role you thought you were going to get. Make sure you chose somewhere where the culture is a good fit. I interviewed at other agencies and just couldn’t see myself working there. For me this was important as I was moving from a job where I loved everyone I worked with and had worked with for years.

Give us some Insight Into yourself on a personal level – when you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy going out drinking too many cocktails, visiting my friends in America and going to gigs. I’ve seen my favourite band a ridiculous amount of times in 11 different countries.
