An insight into…Tauseef Jeffrey
What is your role at Insight and how did you get here?
My role at Insight involves looking after all areas of the recruitment process within the Electrical Engineering sector. As I am a bit of a tech freak myself, I thoroughly enjoy recruiting within this space and learning about the new technological innovations and projects taking place. Having previously worked for a global recruitment partner- from trainee through to senior- I developed all the skills needed to take my career to a stage of maturity and expertise. I worked alongside Sean in my first recruitment role he that taught me all that I know and became my “recruitment doctor”. So when the opportunity to join the Insight team came along, I was very happy to accept and re-join the family. I have now been recruiting within this sector for nearly four years and luckily have managed to stick close to the team that I started my career in recruitment with.
What does success mean to you?
For myself success would be defined as being able provide a comfortable and secure life for my family, being able to offer them anything they could ask for with ease. To be able to offer them all I have and all I never had. At the same time, it also means establishing a strong, reputable presence for myself within my career, gaining the respect and recognition of those around me.
What are your top tips for success?
Honesty, respect, communication, and a strong positive mindset! It is my belief that if you maintain all of these you can never not succeed.
What’s the best advice you have for anyone on the job hunt?
Have a sit down and think through what you are looking for in the short and long term. Draw up a plan around how to get to your goals and what actions you need to get there. I really recommend approaching a small number of reputable recruiters and meeting with them to discuss your future career plans. If they are genuine and professional then they will take the time to listen to your needs and will do their best to land you that ideal role.
What’s the best you have for anyone trying to make it in recruitment?
Never give up! I went to 15 interviews that I got rejected from due to lack of experience. Then I went through a grueling 5 stage process to land a trainee role. Don’t let anyone say you can’t do the job, stay determined and prove to them and yourself you can. Alternatively get in touch, we are always looking for driven, passionate individuals to join our team!
Tell us about yourself on personal level – when you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I’m a lover of life and certainly live by the rule “work hard, play hard”. When I am not in the office or working from home you can find me; watching the latest movies, professionally playing XBOX ONE or trying out new foods. I love going on random activity days to try different things like zorbing, escape rooms and craft classes.
